Jacob Kotter was born and raised in southern Indiana. After completing high school, he attended Indiana University, Bloomington, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts in Religious studies. Following his college graduation, Jacob worked for a law firm in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he helped clients pursue social security disability benefits. While in Terre Haute, Jacob met his wife, Cassie Kotter, who is now a file manager at Craig, Kelley & Faultless LLC.
After gaining some legal experience, Jacob chose to enroll in the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2011. He began working for Craig, Kelley & Faultless LLC as a law clerk in 2012 and graduated from law school in December 2014.
Jacob became an attorney in May 2015. As an attorney, Jacob represents individuals harmed by the negligence of others in commercial motor vehicle wrecks, car wrecks, slip and fall incidents, dog bite incidents and other types of personal injury incidents. He handles cases in litigation that involve serious injuries or wrongful death, oversees and prepares cases for trial that did not settle at mediation, and meets with potential new clients.
Jacob has been recognized by Indiana Super Lawyers as a Rising Star Honoree and is a top-rated attorney for 2025 and 2026. Indianapolis Monthly included him in the 2026 Top Lawyers list, in addition to the firm’s nine other attorneys. He has also been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 every year since 2022.
